Rachel Weitekamp is the owner and artistic director of Sunflower State Dance. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas class of 2015, where she studied Psychology and Dance. Miss Rachel has taught at the studio since 2012 and became the owner in 2014. She is thrilled to be able to provide art education to Eudora and the surrounding communities!
Prior to moving to Kansas, Miss Rachel took part in many artistic ventures including being member of the Springfield Ballet Company, a pre-professional ballet company. As a company member she was cast in many productions including the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Romeo + Juliet, and Rock Ballet. Miss Rachel has also been a participant in Nashville Ballet’s summer intensive and Carolina Ballet Theatre’s Summer Works programs. In the summer of 2017 she attended the Dance Teachers Summit in Long Beach, CA. Miss Rachel has a passion and love of dance that she deeply enjoys sharing with her students and families at Sunflower State Dance.

Rhianna Jordan is from Salina, KS. She has studied dance since the age of 2. Rhianna is skilled in tap, jazz, hip-hop, pointe, ballet, and modern. She has travelled to summer intensives in Chicago, Ill and in Hutchinson, KS. She has competed in many dance competitions and attended many dance conventions, one winning the “Dancer with Heart” award. Other skills and hobbies of Rhianna’s include playing the piano, playing the clarinet, singing, and acting. Currently, Rhianna is pursuing a BFA in Dance at KU. Along with being a dance major, she is on the Unity Hip Hop Dance Crew at KU. Rhianna’s future plans include attending a dance conservatory and joining a dance company (preferable Alvin Ailey) and traveling the world performing on many stages.

Falletta Kirksey is a dancer and choreographer from Thornton, Colorado. Currently, she is attending school at the University of Kansas as a major in Dance. Dancing since the age of five, she has performed numerous contemporary and classical ballet works, such as The Nutcracker, La Vivandière, and Les Sylphides. When learning Les Sylphides, she was under the instruction of former Ballet Russes de Monte Carlo dancer Howard Sayette. As well as being classically trained in the style of Cecchetti, she is trained in many other styles including jazz, contemporary, modern, tap, hip hop, and character. Last summer, she attended a summer program in Los Angeles for The Joffrey Ballet where she learned from great choreographers and dancers such as Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, Anh Dillon, and Josie Walsh. After graduating, she hopes to join either ballet or ballet/contemporary company where she can expand her knowledge and spread her love of dance.
Favorite style of dance: any kind of pointe work (classical or contemporary)
Fun Fact: "although I am a dancer and am graceful when I dance, I am the most clumsy person I've ever met."
Taylor Krech grew up dancing at Dance Arts Studio in Springfield Illinois. She is trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and modern. Miss Taylor has been dancing since she was three years old and is a former member of the Springfield Ballet Company. During her years in the ballet company she performed in numerous works including; The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Rockballet. She has traveled to South Carolina and Salt Lake City for summer intensives and also participated in the Youth American Grand Prix. She is currently a student at the University of Kansas who is pursuing her BFA in Dance with minors in education and business. After graduation Miss Taylor hopes to join a contemporary company in Chicago and eventually open up a dance studio of her own.

Fun Fact: Miss Taylor and Miss Rachel both grew up taking dance from the same teachers and mentors!
Miss Madison was born and raised in Valencia, CA. Her hometown is located in LA county, which help establish her passion in the style of hip hop. Miss Madison has been dancing for 17 years. In high school, her dance team competed in America's Got Talent, where they made it all the way to New York. Her favorite styles of dance are hip hop and tap. Miss Madison is studying at the University of Kansas where she is majoring in strategic communications and minoring in dance. She is also the social chair of Unity Dance Crew and a member of University Dance Company.
Fun Fact: Miss Madison is a summer camp counselor in CA during the summer. Because of this, she is zip line certified, can teach archery, and work with high ropes.
