 Intermediate and Advanced Classes

Intermediate and Advanced Classes

Ballet:  Dancers at this level are diving deeper into their understanding of classical ballet technique as they begin preparing for pointe work. Dancers at this level should already have a good knowledge of ballet positions, vocabulary, and body positioning. The focus at this level is hip alignment, building endurance and strength, as well as increasing repertoire and technical knowledge.

Modern: Dancers at this stage of their dance education have a firm grasp on posture, while modern dance further helps dancers learn different ways of movement. This class will focus on gaining knowledge of contract and release methods of modern technique.

Tap: Dancers will continue learning and perfecting tap technique and rhythm. Dancer will be challenged with more difficult exercise and choreography.

Jazz: In this level dancers will be exposed to different styles of jazz. A good technique foundation is ideal for dancers who consider enrolling for the class.

Pre-Pointe, Pointe, and Variations: Permission is required for enrollment in this advanced class which is focused on specific strengthening of the body for pointe work. In addition to preparing for pointe work students will learn various classical ballet variations, thus increasing their knowledge and repertoire.

Performing Groups

Competition Groups: Our competitive groups are by audition only for students who are serious about increasing their knowledge of dance performance. We have several different groups based on ability and age. These selected dancers are required to take a specific amount of technique classes per week and competition choreography rehearsals. Auditions take place at the beginning of August and competitions take place during the spring and early summer months. For more information on our competition groups, send us an email!

We also offer performing in our annual production of the Nutcracker. Dancers in 1st grade in up are allowed to audition in September.

Keeps things age appropriate. Love the support that each student gives each other. Love the parental support. Great studio culture. My kids have been in dance for years and have improved due to the studio’s emphasis on technique.
